Pet Nutrition for the 21st century

"Food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food" Hippocrates

  • Why do more than 50% of our animals have such bad dental disease when they are 8 years of age that they need treatment for it by the vet?
  • Why do we have such a high incidence of kidney failure in our dogs and cats?
  • Why do so many cats suffer from stones and cystitis?
  • Why are so many rabbits put to sleep because they have over grown teeth?
  • Why do we feed our companions such disgusting, processed diets?
Why do we feed our animals such disgusting, sloppy easy to eat food? He not even using his teeth!

Having seen the benefits gained by changing the diets of patients over the past few years and seeing dramatic improvements in skins, bowels and just general well being, I am convinced we should feed our companions on a much more natural diet. This should were possible include raw foods. Modern highly processed diets are not conducive to a healthy lifestyle.
I hope these pages will convince you as well and show you how easy it can be.

Diet is the single most important factor in your animals health!

For Rabbits the most healthy natural diet is grass, it contains silica which wears the constantly growing teeth down and generally promotes good health.
Horses
should similarly be feed as much as possible on grass.

Poor oral hygiene as a result of poor pet nutrition Cats and Dogs would naturally eat raw carcase meat including the bones and gut contents which is pulped herbage (grass and other green plants). These are an excellent source of essential vitamins.
This is what we should base their diet on. I do not like to see teeth looking like these when a couple of raw meaty bones a week would have prevented all the tartar build up and given us a healthier dog with fresh breath.

Remember to take expert advice before changing your animals diet and do not feed cooked bones. I have also enclosed an article entitled 'Chicken Wings' on the feeding of raw bones by the Australian veterinarian Tom Lonsdale to help reduce your worries about this method of feeding our carnivore companions.
